Central to the Yoga for You approach is the belief that each practice should meet the needs, values and life circumstances of the individual or group. We aim to provide a supportive non-judgmental space for everyone to safely explore their body and find their movement.
About our founder
Shawn Ashkanasy is a movement lover, dark chocolate enthusiast and founder of Yoga for You. He is an accredited Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) and registered yoga teacher (RYT) based in Melbourne, Australia.
After co-founding and running a successful design consultancy, Shawn began to recognise the cycles of stress affecting his health and immersed himself in yoga and meditation.
This path led him to explore embodied practice that nourish both mind and body. He now empowers others by fostering movement practices that support and develop the whole person. To achieve this he draws upon his experience and insight from a number teachers and disciplines, including David Emerson, Katy Bowman, natural movement and Feldenkrais.
